Engaging with a variety of industries such as entertainment, fashion, and design, students spending a semester Los Angeles will participate in advanced architectural design research while speculating on the interdisciplinary nature of design. Courses will be taught by prominent Los Angeles-based academics and professionals and are complemented by international guest speakers and connections to Syracuse Architecture’s local alumni network.
Elective courses offered by Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications and College of Visual & Performing Arts are taught at a new facility in North Hollywood, while the design studio is taught in downtown Los Angeles. The semester in Los Angeles is organized into one fifteen-week session in which students may enroll in 6-18 credits. To complement the design studio, a professional elective in retail design and branding is offered as well as a course in professional practice.
