Professor Susan R. Henderson gave a talk and signed books at Slocum Hall in October for her new publication, “Building Culture: Ernst May and the New Frankfurt Initiative, 1926-1931” from Peter Lang Publishers. The work focuses on the history of the New Frankfurt Initiative- particularly the architect and planner Ernst May- and its achievements, set within the turbulent context of the Weimar decade. It examines the Initiative in light of the social and political debates that shaped it and the works it produced, and describes the relationship of work and theory to contemporary reform movements.
