Congratulations on your admission to the School of Architecture. We are so excited for you to join our campus community this fall and to begin your Becoming Orange Journey!
We will be communicating with you throughout the summer with information or tasks related to your first semester. Fall course registration happens in multiple steps throughout the summer.
Step One – Complete the survey by Monday, June 24.
A registration survey link was emailed to your @syr.edu email address. This survey is important because it will provide us with information we need to help you complete your Fall 2024 schedule. The survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
Step Two – Placement Exams
Mathematics placement exam
- Required for all Architecture students
- Can be completed online anytime
- Must be completed by Monday, June 24, 2024
English Language Placement Exam
- Required for all students whose dominant language is not English
- Exam is offered Wednesday, July 31
- Register by Monday, July 29, 2024 -Click here to register

Step Three – In June, the academic advising team will register you for your required Fall courses:
ARC 107- Architecture Design I (6 credits)
ARC 141-Architetural Theory I (3 credits)
ARC 181- Representation I (3 credits)
FYS 101- First Year Seminar (1 credit)
Step Four – In July, using the information we collected from the survey and placement exams, your academic advisor will send you an individualized plan to complete your Fall schedule with either a writing class or an elective.
