Ho`oulunonalani (Ho’o) Hee is a designer who has worked across the fields of paper engineering, toy design, puppetry, experiential design, and theater. Project clients include Disney, Apple TV, LG, Kiehl’s, Target, and TJ Maxx. She is an Assistant Professor of Product Design in the Department of Art, Architecture and Design, and affiliated faculty member in the Institute for Indigenous Studies at Lehigh University. Ho‘o previously taught art and design studios at Rhode Island School of Design, Parsons School of Design and Pratt Institute. Her research centers on the use of modern design and manufacturing techniques, materials and processes to create playful objects that advance the dissemination and normalization of ‘ōlelo, ‘ike, and mo‘olelo Hawai‘i (Hawaiian language, knowledge and storytelling). Ho‘o holds an interdisciplinary BS in architecture and mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a MFA in furniture design from Rhode Island School of Design.
