Steven Fong was born in Seattle into a family deeply rooted in the west coast science and technology research community. Drawing from this background and subsequent education at Cornell, a belief in speculation and inquiry informs his architecture. Following internship in Zurich, where he was influenced by the advanced building culture of Switzerland, he founded Fong Architecture and parallel design practice Office Make Good (OMG) in Toronto. His most well-known projects discover architecture in the quotidian urban life of his adopted city. He also holds an appointment in the architecture program at University of Toronto. His teaching and research focus on the intersection of architecture with the methods and practices of allied creative disciplines.
