Fei Wang was an architect, educator, critic, curator, and entrepreneur. He was director of China programs, M.S. program coordinator and an associate teaching professor at Syracuse Architecture. He was a founder of the interdisciplinary studio FWStudio, focusing on urban renewal, rural construction, tectonics, phenomenology, copy culture, sustainable architecture and the low carbon city. Fei Wang’s diverse portfolio included the co-founding of the URSIDE Hotel Shanghai, an unconventional hotel project developed, designed, and managed in collaboration with four partners from diverse disciplines. His design and research work was recognized with many research and design awards, and had been exhibited worldwide, including Universität der Künste Berlin, Aedes Galerie in Berlin, Venice Biennale, McGill University, Shenzhen Biennale and Beijing Design Week.
In addition to his design work, Fei Wang curated several exhibitions, such as “Unbuilt Eisenman” (2025), “Metamorphosis of the Phoenix: Time and Space in Art” (2025), “Siu Siu City” (2024), “Syracuse Architecture 150” (2023), “Shenzhen Biennale Longgang Sub-Venue” (2022), “the Other Le Corbusier” (2021), “A Bigger Book Splash” (2021), and “Challenge and Opportunity: Architecture Education Innovation During the Pandemic” (2021). He lectured at numerous design and art institutions, including Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam, SALT Istanbul, Jerusalem Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, National University of La Plata, Cincinnati Art Museum, Princeton University, University of Michigan, University of Hong Kong, B.A.S.E. Beijing, RISD, UNCC, National Cheng Kung University, South China Technology University, Southeast University, and Tongji University.
His writings appeared in Time+Architecture, Domus, The Plan, Mark, Urban Environment Design, Urban Flux, Urbanism Architecture, Thresholds, and AREA, among others. He is a columnist and a guest editor of Time+Architecture, and a guest editor of Urban Flux. He is the guest editor of a+u special issue: Architecture and Beyond, Unconventional Practice by Chinese Architects (2024). His co-edited book Inter-Views: Trends of Architectural and Urbanism Institutions in North America and Europe is published by China Building Press in 2010, and Poetics of Construction, The Discourse of Tectonics in Contemporary China, is published by Tongji University Press in 2014. Syracuse Architecture MS research and design works have been published and exhibited worldwide as Design | Energy | Futures (2016 - 2024) and CI-village-TY 3.0 (2017).
Wang previously taught at University of Hong Kong, Tongji University, China Academy of Art, University of Michigan, North Carolina State University, and the Architectural Association.
