Yoonjai Choi and Ken Meier

Yoonjai Choi and Ken Meier are partners of Common Name. a New York-based graphic design studio, focusing on print, interactive, identity, and exhibition work for the arts and cultural sector.

Yoonjai Choi is a graphic designer and partner at Common Name. Prior to co-founding the studio, Yoonjai held an art director position at New York design studio 2x4 for 5 years, where she worked with a variety of clients including LACMA, Prada, OMA, Bernard Tschumi, MoMA PS1, Rafael Moneo, and Barneys New York. She co-teaches a design class with Michael Rock at Columbia University’s Graduate School for Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. Yoonjai received her BFA in visual communications from Hongik University and an MFA in graphic design from Yale University.

Ken Meier is a graphic designer and partner at Common Name. Prior to co-founding the studio, Ken worked with international design consultancy IDEO and New York’s Project Projects. His work has been published in Graphic, Creative Review, Computer Arts, and idN magazines, as well as in annuals from Print and the Type Directors Club. Currently, he teaches a thesis seminar at Parsons, and co-teaches a typography course at Columbia GSAPP. Ken received his BA in humanities from the University of Chicago and an MFA in graphic design from Yale University.
