Iñigo Berasategui is an architect and co-founder of BeAr Architects, a Bilbao-based architecture studio that explores the possibilities of architecture as a discursive practice. In 2018, together with Ane Arce he co-founded the studio AZAB, which evolved into BEAR in 2021.
BeAr’s work has received several major recognitions, including the Peña Ganchegui Prize in 2019 for the best young Basque architects, and the Egurtek Award in 2020. The studio’s projects have also been acknowledged in Arquia Próxima and the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU). In May 2022, BeAr was selected in the Ecosistemas.zip exhibition as one of the 10 most promising young studios in Spain.
Among BeAr’s most notable projects are Herriko Plaza in Mallabia (2019), Nahinuena House, selected for the Internalities proposal for the Spanish Pavilion at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale, and the Basque Folk Music Museum in Artea (2024).
Alongside his professional practice, Berasategui is actively engaged in teaching and cultural dissemination. He has lectured at universities and institutions, participated in conferences, and directed activities and programs at both local and national events such as BIA Forum and Mugak. Since 2024, he has been teaching Design Studio I and II at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Navarra.
He graduated from the School of Architecture at the University of Navarra in 2013, earning distinction for his final project.
