April de Garcia serves as the Assistant Director for Enrollment & Recruitment for Syracuse University’s School of Architecture, where she supports undergraduate and graduate enrollment initiatives through student-centered recruitment, admissions, and engagement. Working collaboratively with Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management Vittoria Buccina and Assistant Director of Enrollment Management and Student Engagement Gustavo Nascimento, she helps guide prospective students through the admissions process while advancing the School’s strategic enrollment goals.

In her role, April oversees undergraduate and graduate admissions and portfolio review processes, coordinates recruitment and yield initiatives, analyzes enrollment data, and assists with scholarship and assistantship recommendations. She also plans and executes a wide range of admissions and special events, including open houses, portfolio review days, admitted student programs, orientations, guest lectures, and community-building events that showcase the School of Architecture’s creative and collaborative culture.

Before joining the School of Architecture, April built a career in education and international admissions, where she developed extensive experience working with students and families from around the world. Fluent in English and Spanish, she is passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming experiences for prospective students and helping them navigate the college search and admissions process with confidence. Her background in recruitment, event management, and cross-cultural communication reflects her commitment to student success and to strengthening the School of Architecture’s diverse and talented community.
