Lawrence Davis


Lawrence Davis is an Associate Professor in Architecture at Syracuse University, where he is a past Undergraduate Chair, Coordinator of Architecture for SU Florence, is a co-founder of City Scripts and currently directs Lawrence Davis Architects. His research, design, and teaching gravitate around the study of diffuse built environments and their underlying social, cultural, and technical circumstances. His writings include the book, Rewriting Exurbia: New People in Aging Sprawl (ListLab Editorie, 2024), a set of chapters in books including ‘Philip Johnson’s Crystal Cathedral and the Rhetoric of its Free-Form Polyhedron Structure’ in Beyond the Cube: The Architecture of Space Frames and Polyhedra (edited by J. Francois Gabriel: 1997), and ‘Mixing Metabolisms: New People in Aging North American Sprawl’ in What Ever Happened to Mom and Dad’s House (edited by M. Tattara and F. Zanfi: 2025) and articles in blogs, journals, and newspapers such as Architecture Player, Architects Bulletin, Common Edge, Foglio, Journal of Architectural Education, Architext, Architettura, and the Syracuse Post-Standard.
