M.Arch from Pratt Institute, B.A. in Philosophy from Linfield College

T. Craig Sinclair is a New York-based spatial researcher and co-director of design practice SINCLAIR COLLECTIVE. He is currently on the faculty at Syracuse University and New York Tech, and previously taught at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Sinclair’s research interests are at the intersection of sensory ecologies, science and technology studies, and architecture. His latest research project was on remote sensing in and the spatial affordances of the deep ocean, funded by a 2021-2022 Fulbright in Norway. He is currently exploring the representational models and media used to depict non-visual spatial phenomena, especially ones left unsensed by the human body, and their impact on architectural form and climate narratives.

Sinclair’s personal and collaborative design works as part of SINCLAIR COLLECTIVE have participated in exhibitions and publications across the globe, with institutions like the Istanbul Biennale, HAU in Berlin, Tactical Tech, and Mediamatic. His writings have been published in MIT’s Thresholds Journal, CLOG, and ARCADE, among others.

Professionally, Sinclair trained as an architect under artist Olafur Eliasson in Berlin, worked with Ennead Architects in New York on large-scale institutional projects, and was an arts planner at 4Culture in Seattle. Sinclair holds an M.Arch from Pratt Institute and earned a B.A. in Philosophy (with thesis honors) at Linfield College in Oregon.
