Nitya Charugundla
Intermediate Designer, Spacesmith

Nitya Charugundla is an intermediate designer at Spacesmith in New York City, where she works on commercial projects including workplace and high-end retail design. Since working at Spacesmith, Charugundla has worked on projects such as Hermes of Paris, Laduree, and Brooklyn Community Services. She also serves on both the Talent, Culture and Learning Committee, as well as the Marketing and Business Development Committee, which aid in firm exposure, recruitment, marketing, as well as bettering internal learning processes.

Charugundla was previously an architectural designer at Flansburgh Architects in Boston, Mass. where she has worked on projects such as Lawrence Academy, Nauset Regional High School, Webster Bartlett High School, and Cotuit Center of the Arts. During her career, she has had a hand in all parts of design from space planning to interiors, to schematic design through construction administration.

A native of New York City, Charugundla is a graduate of Marymount School of New York. She earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 2020 from Syracuse University’s School of Architecture. During her time on campus, Charugundla was involved in several student organizations including the Fashion and Design Society set team, Women in Design, American Institute of Architecture Students, Architecture Student Ambassadors and Architecture Student Organization (ASO). She was also a member of the Eta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta at Syracuse and holds a certification from the summer program at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art.

As an extension of her creative passion, Charugundla is a freelance product designer and founder of Lilac Suns, an artistry shop based in New York that she founded in 2021 where she sells original art prints, photography and more.
