This fall, Syracuse Architecture, in partnership with renowned fashion school Polimoda, will launch a series of workshops focused on storefront window design. Students participating in these workshops will design “frames” and curate “collections” for storefront windows, an architecture element and display typology that has returned to prominence as in-person experiences and events have become increasingly important to brands and retailers.
The first workshop will take place during New York Fashion Week, September 12–14, at the Syracuse University Fisher Center in New York City, and will be led by Pablo Sequero, Syracuse Architecture Assistant Professor, titled “There will be no more walls.” In addition to a review and discussion of student storefront window designs, the NYC workshop will feature a public lecture by Mireia Luzárraga, Director at TAKK.

TAKK, Material Ecologies
The lecture presents TAKK’s approach to material ecologies through a selection of research and built projects. Drawing on feminist thought, political ecology, and low-embedded-carbon practices, it explores how materials can become active design tools for rethinking relationships between bodies, environments, and other living beings. In dialogue with the course, the lecture will also examine how these principles are translated into commissioned work for private clients in the fashion industry.
These workshops are among several collaborative programs currently being developed by Syracuse Architecture and Polimoda including a post-professional Master of Science degree program, Space | Brand | Strategy, launching in Fall 2026.
