In this lecture, Ane Arce and Iñigo Berasategui present BeAr’s practice as an evolving cabinet of curiosities: a collection of references, fragments, tools, and experiences that acquire new meaning through architectural work. Rather than inventing from nothing, the studio operates by observing, collecting, translating, and transforming what already exists. Through projects of different scales, the lecture explores recurring tensions between history and contemporary life, the local and the global, permanence and change, landscape and construction, domesticity and public space. Displacement, material precision, structural clarity, and time become design tools. Built works, temporary interventions, objects, exhibitions, and ongoing projects reveal an architecture rooted in direct action and construction, yet open to uncertainty and future adaptation. Together, these examples describe BeAr’s work as a continuous process of learning: a shared and sometimes chaotic space where ideas, mistakes, materials, and references are assembled into precise responses to each specific place, program, and moment.
