Emanuel Admassu

Emanuel Admassu is a co-principal of AD—WO, an art and architecture practice based between Brooklyn and Providence, and by extension between Melbourne and Addis Ababa. He is a founding member of the Black Reconstruction Collective and an Associate Professor at RISD Architecture. He will be joining Columbia GSAPP as full-time faculty in summer 2021.

His design, teaching and research practices meditate on Afrodiasporic spaces operating at the intersection of design theory, spatial justice, and contemporary African art.

AD—WO’s installation, Immeasurability, is featured in the current exhibition at  The Museum of Modern Art, Reconstructions: Architecture and Blackness in America.
