Jessica Bruso

Jessica joined the City of Cocoa Beach, Florida in April 2020 as the Stormwater Utility Manager. Originally from Massachusetts, Jessica moved to Florida in pursuit of her Master’s degree in Biology from Florida Atlantic University where she studied dolphin behavior. Prior to completing her degree, she also assisted manatee research, in addition to participating in research assessing the health of the Indian River Lagoon (Project HERA) with Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. Once she completed degree, she began teaching college classes in science. After over a decade as a professor, and several years as part of the City’s Sustainability Committee, she welcomed her new position with the City of Cocoa Beach. Her work with the City includes managing the City’s stormwater infrastructure program, implementing stormwater LID (low impact design) projects, and other programs aimed to reduce the pollutant load to the Banana River Lagoon.
