Chrisoula Kapelonis


Chrisoula Kapelonis is an architect, designer, and strategist specializing in creating technologies that enable physical environments to sense, understand, and respond to the world. Her work focuses on harnessing spatial computing and machine intelligence to unlock new value in buildings and reimagine their potential.

Currently at Google, Kapelonis leads design for Home Intelligence on the Google Home team. Previously, she spearheaded ambient computing initiatives for Google Assistant. Her research background includes her time at the MIT Media Lab’s City Science Group, where she explored architectural robotics, wearables, environmental sensing, and building automation. She has also contributed to innovative projects at Harvard’s REAL Lab, IDEO, and BKSK Architects.

Kapelonis holds a Master’s in Media Arts and Sciences from MIT and a Master of Architecture II from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture from The City College of New York.
