Erin Cuevas joins the School as the Harry der Boghosian Fellow for 2024–25. During the 2024–25 school year, Cuevas will teach an architecture studio and two professional electives focusing on her research project, “Redefining Performance,” which aims to advance independent, progressive and emerging design practice, stretching architecture into adjacent artistic realms and localities, bridging disciplines and communities alike.
Dismantling the privileged view in lieu of a shared stage, Cuevas’s multimedia performance work advances the inclusive potential of scenography by employing storytelling of underrepresented voices, site-specific public community events and accessible emerging technology. . Her work as director of Project XYZ and co-founder of architecture practice Curious Minds Los Angeles with Jana Masset Collatz unites architects, choreographers, technologists, and filmmakers in highly interdisciplinary projects.
Prior to joining Syracuse Architecture, Cuevas was the Director of Global Retail Story Design at Nike Inc. leading interactive digital media for retail installations such as the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her work has been featured at LA Dance Project Studios, A+D Museum, Architektur Galerie Berlin, Northwest ByDesign Film Festival 2020, Cultured Magazine’s Young Architects 2021 list, and earned first place at the World Stage Design conference in 2022.
