B.Arch from Universidad de Los Andes; Master in Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University

Rubén Gomez Gañán is a Colombian architect and researcher who understands architecture as a medium for nurturing narratives and interdependencies between living beings and the built environment, fostering relationships rooted in care and solidarity. His work operates within the intersection between academia and professional practice. Gomez has developed a body of research investigating how design scenarios have rendered social and environmental realities that affect human and more-than-human co-existence. As part of his professional trajectory, he has also worked on public projects such as museums, schools, universities, and hospitals in different countries, including the USA, Panama, Kosovo, China, and Italy.

In 2020, Rubén founded Práctica de Arquitecturas del Entorno (PAE), an architecture studio based in Bogota and New York. The practice focuses on researching and designing spatial projects surrounded by rural contexts by strengthening local knowledge and prioritizing interspecies co-existence. PAE has worked on projects in Colombia, Chile, the USA, and China.

Rubén is the co-founder of Colectivo de Palabreo, a Latin-American interdisciplinary collective that combines textiles, art, and architecture to foster dialogues between individuals and communities that unveil stories and narratives related to identity and territory. The practice is situated in an academic spectrum that allows for the possibility of hosting workshops, lectures, and performances.
