Lafina Eptaminitaki is an architect and visual artist from Crete, Greece, based in New York. She holds a Master in Design Studies (with distinction) from Harvard Graduate School of Design, a Master of Arts in Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and a Master of Architecture (summa cum laude) from the Polytechnic University of Thessaly. At Harvard, she was a curator at the GSD Kirkland Gallery and the co-president of Womxn in Design, advocating for gender equity and diversity through design. Previously, she worked at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Storefront for Art and Architecture, and MOS Architects, contributing to diverse exhibitions, installations, buildings, and publications. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Atelier Atthis, a woman-led interdisciplinary practice navigating the realms of architecture and scenography.
Lafina has been the recipient of several grants, fellowships, and artist residences from institutions such as the School of Visual Arts, New York Foundation for the Arts, and âTâ Space by the Steven Myron Holl Foundation. She has earned numerous international recognitions, including the Gaudi Architecture Prize, Architecture MasterPrize, Architecture & Design Collection Award, Faith & Form International Award for Religious Art and Architecture, Greek Theater Festival Set Design Award, and DOMa Greek Architecture Mention. Her work has been showcased at New York Live Arts, Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, the 10th Biennale of Young Greek Architects, the 6th Architecture Triennale in Crete, Teloglion Fine Arts Foundation, Benaki Museum, Giorgio De Chirico Art Center, AIA Conference on Architecture and Design, Milan Furniture Fair, et al.
Before joining Syracuse University, Lafina was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, and served as a guest critic in multiple architecture schools, including Harvard GSD, Columbia GSAPP, Pratt, and Northeastern University. She is a licensed architect in Greece and Denmark and an AIA Associate.
