Gina M. DiBella


Gina is an independent historic preservation consultant and writer. She works on a variety of projects in the Western and Central New York area including National Register nominations, landmark designations, cultural resource surveys, and historic preservation tax credit applications. In addition, she writes grant applications to help fund projects such as the Thomas W. Boyde, Jr. Historic Resource Survey.

Over the years, Gina has served as a communications consultant, website and social media manager, and newspaper columnist. Her involvement in historic preservation began as a volunteer for the Landmark Society of Western New York’s Built Environment Awareness Program, where she taught local history and architecture to fourth graders in the Rochester City School District. Gina’s graduate thesis focused on two areas of special interest to her: the Erie Canal and the rehabilitation of historic theatres.

Gina received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication/Journalism and Political Science from St. John Fisher University in Rochester, a Master of Arts in English/Creative Writing from the State University of New York Brockport, and a Master of Arts in Historic Preservation from Goucher College in Baltimore. She served as chair of the Town of Greece Historic Preservation Commission for 19 years; and is a member and former chair of the Preservation Awards Committee of the Landmark Society of Western New York.
