The Making of Reform: Architecture and Economic Liberalization in the People’s Republic of China, 1970-1992

Architecture played an active and important role in both late-Mao and early reform-era China (1970-92). In this talk, Cole Roskam discusses his recent book on the architectural history of China’s economic liberalization, and the many ways architectural ideas, practices, and objects helped to change China and, by extension, the world at large.
