Andrew Saunders is an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design, where he serves as Director of the Master of Science in Design: Robotics and Autonomous Systems (MSD-RAS) program.
Saunders is also the founding principal of Andrew Saunders Architecture + Design, an internationally recognized, award-winning architecture, design, and research practice dedicated to advancing innovative digital methodologies that expand architectural inquiry and cultural impact. The practice works across multiple scales, from product and exhibition design to residential, civic, and cultural institutional projects.
Saunders’ research explores the intersection of computational geometry, architectural aesthetics, emerging technologies, digital fabrication, and building performance. Reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of his work, he has published extensively across architecture, design, computation, and digital fabrication. His book Baroque Topologies (Palombi Editori) presents pioneering research on LiDAR survey analysis and computational approaches to architectural history.
Through his leadership in academia and practice, Saunders advances new relationships between computation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and design. His work bridges architecture, design, and computation to develop innovative approaches to design, digital fabrication, and emerging technologies, shaping the future of architectural education and practice.
Saunders earned a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Architecture with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
