Katie MacDonald is a licensed architect in Virginia and co-founder of After Architecture. MacDonald is Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of Virginia where she co-directs the Before Building Laboratory, leading material research and development. MacDonald pioneers new biomaterial assemblies with the aim of creating sustainable building material systems. In 2023, MacDonald was awarded the Architectural League Prize for Young Architects + Designers and named Educator of the Year in Metropolis Magazine’s Planet Positive Awards.
