Lower Manhattan 1:1
Led by Rami Abou-Khalil and Ivi Diamantopoulou, the workshop is centered around a meandering walk across Lower Manhattan. Its irregular grid weaves together buildings historic and contemporary, low-rises and supertalls, conventional and radical.
We’ll look at each with a focus on the various and distinct material assemblies that shape our experience of their form. During the walk we will experiment with digital tools including photogrammetry and photography with a goal to create an annotated material practice flipbook for the neighborhood.
The workshop will be hosted at the offices of SOM and New Affiliates and include lectures on the work of each firm through the lens of material specification, detailing and documentation.
