CONSUMPTION
Often associated with the concept of intake and then depletion, the idea can take on new properties within the context of architectural theory. To consume a material does not immediately suggest that the material is gone, and can actually produce new, hybrid combinations of materials that may create entirely new environments not previously understood. Therefore, the "consumption" of a material does not have to mean that the material is gone, or wasted, and instead could become more akin to the idea of "building".
Example: If the emptying of a soda bottle meant that another brick was "formed" for the use in an assembly system, then no longer would the term "consuming" mean that the bottle had lost its meaning. Therefore, the opportunity exists to redefine how one understands "consumption".
