Katherine M. Hogan was a University Scholar at Syracuse Architecture, graduating summa cum laude with a minor in Italian language. She participated in the School’s Florence program. Upon graduation Katherine Hogan worked with Will Bruder in Phoenix, AZ and later held a fellowship position with Bryan Bell at Design Corps—a non-profit architecture practice serving communities normally without access to architectural services.
Hogan joined the design-build firm Tonic Design | Tonic Construction in 2008 and is now a partner and principal. She has worked on multiple award-winning residential and small scale commercial projects. The firm recently received “Residential Architects” Rising Star award. Tonic’s hybrid model of professional practice furthers the firm’s flexibility to take on various roles as both architect and/or contractor. This integrated perspective allows Tonic to build and implement the team’s own designs as well as designs of other architects, with the highest emphasis on innovative craft.
Passionate about academia and her local community, Katherine frequently serves as a guest juror locally at the NC State University College of Design and participates in nonprofit activities that promote design awareness. Along with her partner, Vincent Petrarca, she taught a visiting critic studio at Syracuse Architecture during the spring 2015 semester.
