Jiajie Jerry Zhao (he/him/his) joins the Syracuse University School of Architecture in Fall 2022 as a part-time instructor. He will teach second year design studio Arch 207.
Prior to joining Syracuse University, Zhao was a practicing designer and a studio teaching associate at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, where he also worked as a research scholar under the guidance of Andrés Jaque.
Zhao’s work attempts to interpret the role of an architect and what it takes to be a useful agent in the rapidly climatizing world. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and the recent recipient of the Honor Award for Argument from GSAPP, a recognition for outstanding capacities and excellency in the value, history and constitution of the Advanced Architectural Design Program: the critical dimension of architectural design practices.
Zhao holds a Bachelor of Architecture with minor studies in Entrepreneurship from University of Southern California and a Master of Science in Advance Architectural Design from Columbia University, GSAPP.
