Robert Halverson, AIA, NCARB is an accomplished Partner at Portman Architects. As the President, Chief Operating Officer, and Managing Principal of Portman Architects’ Atlanta and Shanghai offices, he oversees the day to day business operations, manages business development opportunities and guides the long-term growth strategy for the company. In addition, he serves as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and is licensed in several states around the country. In these positions, Rob helps to guide Portman Architects global practice strategies.
With more than 20 years of professional experience in the United States and Asia, Rob can across geographies leveraging resources from our design studios in the United States and Asia. This approach enables the best talent and firmwide resources to come together for the benefit of our clients and the operations of the practice.
Rob’s work includes the design of corporate headquarters, large scale mixed-use developments, five-star hotels, high-end residential buildings and higher education projects. His leadership is defined by a command of design excellence and passion for high quality delivery. As represented in his projects, Rob approaches his work with a rigorous and collaborative design process that is centered on ensuring that client aspirations connect directly with high performance design outcomes.
In addition to his duties at Portman Architects, Rob is an active participant in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), and is honored to serve as a Board Member of the School of Architecture at Syracuse University. He has also enjoyed participating as a Design Jury member at Syracuse University, Yale University, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Pratt Institute, NJIT and RPI.
