Ivan Bernal is an architectural designer and educator. He holds a master of architecture degree from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) where he graduated with honors and was awarded “Best Thesis” for his research between primitive shapes and familiarity. In 2011, he was selected to be part of the Wallpaper Magazine graduate directory.

Formerly a  full-time faculty at SCI-Arc, Bernal has also taught seminars and lectured in a variety of schools including Harvard GSD, Yale SOA, Knowlton School of Architecture at OSU,and IAAC in Barcelona, among others.

Previously, Ivan Bernal has worked in studios in South America, Miami and Los Angeles, and, in 2012 he became the lead designer for Xefirotarch. Ivan Bernal’s work has been exhibited in galleries around the world and deals with issues of familiarity seen through the lens of unconventional tools of representation.
