Kris Yao

Kris Yao Hon. FAIA founded KRIS YAO | ARTECH in Taipei in 1985 and established a second office in Shanghai in 2001. The firm employs over 160 professionals and is regarded as one of the most important architecture practices in the Asia-Pacific region. Throughout his 30 years of practices, Mr. Yao has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the 2005 Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley, the 2007 Taiwan “National Award for Arts”, the highest national honor for arts in Taiwan, and most recently, the prestigious Honorary Fellowship from the American Institute of Architects in 2014. Mr. Yao’s works are collected in three of his monographs, and have been widely featured in international magazines and architectural journals.
