5. SINCE THEN ...
The CAD Lab continues in operation. The ten PS/2s have been expanded to 20 486 based PCs. The local token ring network has been replaced by an Ethernet network connecting to a local server and on to the campus network. The three RTs have been replaced with three RS/6000s. They are connected to a high speed UNIX network with remote application servers, file servers, compute servers, etc.

A CAD Studio was opened in September of 1993 with 12 RS/6000s and an HP DesignJet plotter. Recent remodeling of other studios has provided raceways for network connections to individual student drafting stations in five studios. The School of Architecture and the university are working to expand this network to all student drafting stations.
