What the course attempts to teach:
The course is based on two principles:

1. Theory vs. Application,  or Knowledge vs. Skill.
The course attempts to draw a balance between Knowledge Based teaching and Skill Based Teaching.

2. Task orientation.
The course intends to focus on tasks the architect is called upon to perform and the means by which the computer can assist. The software itself is of secondary interest. Learning an application program command by command is not the intention. The guiding principle is that while the software can be expected to change, the basic applications will not.

Support software, generally considered to be those applications which support the office by are not geared to design itself. This includes managing building programs, office and construction budgets, generating publications for print and the web.
