Heidi Weber Pavilion
  • Heidi Weber Pavilion, Switzerland. Le Corbusier
  • Steel construction
  • A building for the display of Le Corbusier’s work and furniture.
  • Pavilion is a prototype for a house vs. a gallery.
  • Le Corbusier begins to posit a modular steel construction system which he first develops in a hillside housing project. Roq n Rob at Cap Matin in the south of France.
  • The forms a ‘kit of parts’ which can be assembled on site versus crafting a concrete building on site.
  • He patents a 226x226x226 cm structural cube.
  • The second part of the design comes from a previous museum pavilion which he uses a 2 pitched parasols, one pointing up and one pointing down.
  • The Weber pavilion comes together as a ‘housing’ style scheme below with the two pitched parasols above.
